June

School's out and summer begins. United Way meetings start for the September Campaign, and Ana stepped up to be the Division Chairperson for the second year in a row. The HP celeb she met this campaign was the future CEO of the new HP spin-off company (Agilent) Ned Barnholt. As if that weren't enough to keep her busy, she was also voted in as the secretary and webmaster for the congregation at Tsemach Adonai (did you check out the website?) Well, the Lord gifted her with her administrative skills -- let others be blessed by her talents! (TOP)

July

What would July be without the Fourth. This year Joyce was with her mom, and they were with the congregation of Tsemach Adonai at the beach near Santa Cruz. This was a day filled with sun, sand, food and fellowship.

San Francisco 49er Merton Hanks visited Ana's HP site to get publicity for his annual kids camp. He brought with him his former 49er mates and camp cohorts Iheanyi Uwaezuoke and Eddie Taylor. Ana tried to win lunch with the gridiron giants, but had to settle for a couple autographs instead. She did find out that next year's camp will be at Valley Christian's new High School facility.

After Joyce spent two weeks at her dad's, Claudia and Ana picked her up and headed up I-5 to go to the HUGE Groth Family Reunion in Washington. This was the first of the big road trips, with Ana doing all the driving. Joyce got to see for the first time in 8 years her near-"twin" (they were born two weeks apart!) and second cousin, Veronica, daughter of Ana's first cousin Grant and his wife Ave. They've had 3 more in the meantime, Valerie, Alexander and Andrew.

They stopped in Florence to see the sea lions, went on to Bandon where they saw a restored lighthouse, then walked through the wild animal park where Joyce petted at baby tiger and a baby bear. She also managed to capture an adorable baby goat. The weather was fantastic for the whole trip. They only had slight showers and fog on the last day as they were leaving Oregon. And since Ana had PROMISED Joyce that she could bring her new sand toys and play on the beach, they stopped for an hour along the way at an inviting stretch of sand. Claudia took pictures while she waited. (TOP)
