Nana's 79th Birthday
at
Her Favorite Winery

We made the two-hour trek up to
the Napa wine region. This winery
was having a "reserve release" of a
special wine on her birthday, and
they were having a party too, which
was open to the public. So we went!

[Above] a beautiful pink building in
the middle of lush vineyards.
Exquisite!  [Left] Nana stands by
the winery's entrance sign. That's
also her maiden name. [Right] a view
from the front porch, over the
fountain.

[Above] a panorama view from the
Library Room. [Left] a painting on
an oak barrel of the beautiful pink
building. [Right] the artist, whose
last name is also Groth! They
welcomed Nana into their family and
made her birthday VERY special!

[Left] Dennis is the owner and
namesake of the winery. He is a
wonderful and gracious host.
[Right] we found out this famous
49er legend is related by marriage
to the winery family. Nana was
very excited to have her picture
taken with him!!

[Near Left] Nana surveys the lawn
[Far Left and Below] the beautiful
lawn/atrium/patio area. Looks like
a great place to hold a wedding
reception. Or any other kind of
party for that matter.

We spent about two hours at the
reception, trying the wines, eating
bread and cheese (mmm good!) and
having wonderful conversations with
the employees. As we left, we found
that there was actually a crowd
forming! A good time to go.

[Above Left] as we drove out, Ana
took a picture at the front gate of
the entry sign, [Above] the pink
building peaking out from the vines,
[Above Right] and the cars parked
along the drive, because all the
parking lots were full.

We had a lovely lunch in Yountville
at the local "grille" (fancier than just
a "grill") where they treated Nana
like a queen and gave a free birthday
dessert (they didn't sing tho' ...
too fancy.) We had a lovely leisurely
drive home. An excellent day!!
