OCTOBER
The girls' birthday fell on Yom Kippur for the first time in years. They celebrated at Temple first, then went on to join several theatre friends at Fridays for dessert, coffee and "Happy Birthday" sung to them by the wait staff. Work and school prevented them from going anywhere for their day, but they usually make up for it later. They had another party with several of their friends at a local hotel suite where several of their theatre friends joined them for a gathering that dwindled into the wee hours of the morning. Ana made a big pot of her famous Nana S'ghetti, which is always popular.

Seven rehearsals before opening night, Ana was asked by Succeed's director if she could step into a larger role. The woman playing the character of Miss Jones had a medical situation crop up and couldn't continue in the production.  So Ana had to learn two solos and all the dialog for Jonesy before they opened on Oct.23. It was a little nerve-wracking, but the staff and cast was super-supportive and the music is fun, so it all came together. Here are two pictures

One of their dear friends gave the gals tickets to see the Disney on Ice show at the "Shark Tank" for their birthday. They got to see all their Disney favorites; even though they couldn't go to "the Land" for their birthday, they still got to enjoy the company. Ana even teared up as the recreated the "Small World" experience on ice, complete with live "dolls" skating around.

Joyce attended a Halloween party with friends in Santa Cruz, while Ana ushered the opening night performance for You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown. To keep in theme with the 'holiday' the show staff wore costumes as well, and Ana dressed as Miss Othmar (the school teacher, you know, the wah-wah-wah lady).  Her costume looked suspiciously like Jonesy's from Succeed, but it was the right era, and easily accessible.

Other shows we've seen with or starring friends: the gals saw friends in Greater Tuna where it was performed at the Hoover (where Ana has performed in 3 shows) and it was very hysterical.

  NOVEMBER

Joyce and Ana were asked by their friend Charles and his fiance Julie if they would usher at their wedding at Stanford's Memorial Chapel. The weather reports wavered between clouds and sunshine for several days. The morning of presented some clouds, but no rain.

The service was beautiful, as were the bride, her bridesmaids, and the groom and his attendants weren't bad to look at either.

The reception had great food, dancing, good company, and Joyce even caught the bouquet!!

For Thanksgiving (well, the weekend before) they drove down to their favorite destination. The holiday lights had just been hung, and everything was in the Christmas spirit. They dined early on fine fare at the Blue Bayou, rode their favorite rides, and had the park mostly to themselves much of the time. Ana even got preferential seating at the parade and Fantasmic show thru her alliance contacts at work. Woo hoo!!! They also checked out another college, while they were in the neighborhood..

Other shows they've seen with or starring friends: the gals saw friends in Flower Drum Song downtown at the enormous center for performing arts. This must have been a revival version because the script was like none they have ever seen; and of course their friend from Joseph stole almost every scene he was in. Joyce got to watch a performance of Charlie Brown on one of Ana's house managing nights, and she thoroughly enjoyed it as well.

  DECEMBER
Ana and Joyce were co-producers with their friend Myra, of Once on This Island, a Caribbean version of the little mermaid story. Auditions and callbacks were at the first part of the month, with rehearsals starting in the new year.

The gals had another football game, their last one of the season, and this one their team won! The change in head coach proved to make the difference!

Ana performed in the HP Choir's holiday concert season. She sang in 3 specials: as a soloist on Mary Did you Know?, in a duet of Baby It's Cold Outside, and in a quartet singing Mele Kalikimaka. All the concerts were well received and attended; several of her friends from the theater came to a concert as well.

Joyce joined her dad for the holidays, and Ana spent a couple days with her mom. On New Years Eve the girls went to see Aaron in his third year performing as Rocky in Rocky Horror. What a way to ring in the new year!

Shows they've seen starring friends: Ana and her mom caught Hot 'n Cole, a revue of Cole Porter tunes; Ana and Joyce saw Plaid Tidings, the holiday version of Forever Plaid.
